At Brookhill Farm, we offer exceptional horseback riding lessons for riders of all ages and skill levels. Our program includes hunter/jumper, equitation, and dressage disciplines, providing a well-rounded riding experience for every equestrian enthusiast. We are also proud to host the distinguished University of Virginia (UVA) Dressage Team, reflecting our commitment to excellence in equestrian training and education.
Programs & Disciplines
We specialize in hunters, show jumpers, and equitation, while also hosting the UVA dressage team. This unique combination gives riders the opportunity to explore multiple disciplines within a single, cohesive program.
Instructors & Teaching Approach
Our dedicated team of five experienced instructors is passionate about teaching and sharing their love for horses. They guide riders from beginners to advanced levels, ensuring personalized attention and a supportive learning environment.
Lessons for Children (Ages 6+)
We offer lessons for children starting at age 6, based on physical and mental readiness. Children benefit from:

Lesson Format: Small Groups (4–6 Riders)
We emphasize group lessons with about 4 to 6 riders, creating an encouraging atmosphere where participants support one another regardless of age or experience—while still receiving personalized instruction.

Our facility includes:
Two expansive hunter-jumper arenas
A full-sized dressage arena
Round pens that provide safe learning spaces for our youngest riders
Safety & Required Gear
To ensure a safe riding experience:
An approved helmet is required while mounted.
Riders should wear long pants; blue jeans or stretch pants are acceptable.
Proper riding boots with a heel are necessary.
A selection of helmets and paddock boots is available to borrow.
Riders are encouraged to purchase personal gear from local retailers like Dover Saddlery.
